What is your Return Policy?

We are happy to return or exchange unopened/unused items within 30 days with proof of purchase. Please Contact Us to get the ball rolling.

How can I reach your customer service department?

You can email us at hello AT thevalleyalchemist.com, by filling out our Contact form, or through Facebook and Instagram. Customer service is a priority for us, but as a family owned and operated business we don’t have a dedicated call centre. We do aim to respond to all messages within 24 hours.

What payment types do you accept?

We accept VISA, Mastercard, PayPal, Apple and Google Pay! If you’d like to pay by eTransfer, please Contact Us.

Shipping Information

What do you charge for Shipping?

To avoid any unpleasant surprises at the checkout, we're keeping things simple. We offer flat shipping rate of $11 within North America for orders under $50. Orders over $50 ship free! We also offer free local delivery for customers in our immediate area for orders over $20. For details on shipping, head over to this page.

How long does shipping take?

We ship using UPS and Canada Post Xpresspost. You can expect your parcel of tea & cozy goodness to arrive at your door in around 5 business days from the time of your order.

Do you ship to my country?

We offer international shipping! When you enter your address at checkout, shipping will be applied.

How can I track my shipment?

When we fulfill your order, you’ll receive a confirmation email with your tracking number. Follow the instructions in your email to track your order.

Can I sell your tea in my establishment?

Absolutely! We love chatting with businesses who want to offer their guests high-quality, one-of-a-kind products. Please head over to Stockists & Wholesale to learn a bit more. 

Do you offer custom gifts or baskets?

We sure do! We create custom collections of our teas and Cozy Shop treasures, and wrap them beautifully for your occasion. We can do this on a larger scale (+20 baskets), or a smaller scale (-5 little boxes) based on your needs, location and budget.

We have also done large batches of sample-sized teas with custom labels for corporate, wedding and shower gifts. Let's chat about your plans, and see what we can create together! 

Nutrition and Health Information

How much caffeine is in a cup of tea?

Our herbal and rooibos tea blends are 100% caffeine free. When it comes to black, green, oolong, white and pu-erh, it’s pretty much impossible to say exactly how much caffeine is in each cup. The way the leaves are processed impacts how quickly the caffeine is released, but blend ratios, water temperature and steeping time will also affect how much caffeine could be in your cup. Generally speaking, the hotter your water and the longer your steep time, the more caffeine you'll end up with in your tea. 

Black Tea          30-60mg caffeine per 250ml

Green Tea         20-60mg caffeine per 250ml

White Tea         6-60mg caffeine per 250ml

An average cup of coffee has 100-120mg of caffeine per 250ml.

Are your teas vegan / gluten free / allergen free?

All of our teas are vegan friendly and gluten free! While none of our regular teas contain tree nuts, peanuts, gluten or soy, we are not a certified nut-, dairy-, or gluten-free facility. All of our products (and product pages) have a list of ingredients, and we’d be happy to answer any specific questions. Some seasonal teas contain almonds, and they are clearly labeled. We perform thorough cleaning between each tea blending.

How many calories are in my tea? Do your teas contain any sugar?

Our regular teas contain no added sugars and are calorie-free. Some seasonal teas contain small candies and marshmallows, but these are clearly labeled and pictured. There are no hidden sugars or sweetners.

Can I drink your tea while pregnant or breastfeeding?

This question is a great one to bring to your next appointment with your healthcare provider. All of our teas packages have complete ingredient lists, so please take advantage of that information to ensure your favourite blend is safe for your particular pregnancy and baby.

Are your ingredients certified organic?

Great question! One of our main objectives as a business is to take care of our environment and our customers. Only a small number of our ingredients are certified organic, however, all of our ingredients come from farms with working Environmental Management Systems, which result in less reliance on pesticides, and include wildlife, water and soil conservation plans. The farms are also evaluated for fair treatment and trading practices.

How long does tea stay fresh?

Tea doesn’t exactly “expire.” It oxidizes, which means it looses its best flavour qualities and health benefits over time. To keep your teas fresher, longer store them in a cool, dry, dark place. In our home, that means a kitchen cupboard further away from the stove. Make sure the tea is kept tightly sealed too!

The Tea Crate Subscription FAQ

Subscription Billing and Shipping

When will I be billed for my subscription?

If you sign up for the Sweater Weather Subscription, you will be billed $20 on the day you subscribe, and then $20 on the 26th of every month (October-March) going forward. 

If you purchase a 3-Month Gift Subscription, you will be billed on the day you subscribe for a one-time charge of $60. Your lucky loved one will receive 3 monthly shipments of The Alchemist’s Tea Crate with no additional charges to you.

When will I receive my subscription?

Your Tea Crate will ship out from Meaford, ON on the 27th of every month - or Monday if the 27th falls on a weekend. Our hope is that you receive them during the first week of the month.

How do I track my subscription shipment?

Did you know a tracking number costs us around $10 per parcel? It's important to us that The Tea Crate is an affordable luxury, so we do not provide tracking numbers for them. Your Tea Crate will be delivered to your regular mailbox. If you don't see it in there by the 15th of the month, please Contact Us.

Gift Subscription Questions

How do I purchase a Gift Subscription?

Visit our 3 Month Gift Subscription page.

Your details go into the Billing Address field. You'll also want to include your own email address so you receive the receipt and order confirmation. The Shipping Address fields are where you'll put the information for the recipient of your thoughtful gift.

In order to keep shipping details straight, we'd appreciate it if you could place a separate order for each gift you are purchasing.

Gifts are a one-time charge. The Order Summary will say "charges every 3 months," but it will not charge you again - we promise!

Do you notify the recipient of the gift?

You have a couple of options here!

During check-out, you'll see a field where you can type notes. You can use this space to include a message you'd like us to include in the physical shipment to your loved one.

If you'd like to deliver the news in advance of the first shipment, you can use the letter we send in your confirmation email. The confirmation email includes a download link for a letter you can print to let your loved one know how awesome and thoughtful you are. 

Of course, you can always forego both these options and do your own thing!
